Housing Minister reviews progress of Central Business District in Egypt’s NC

Eng. Sherif El Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held a meeting on Tuesday to follow up on the execution status of the Central Business District (CBD) project in the New Capital, Invest-Gate reports.

The meeting included representatives from China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA), and project officials from the Ministry.

El Sherbini reviewed the latest updates on the Crescent Towers, including the main entrance, ground floor works, and interior finishes. He also examined the current status of the Fairmont Hotel, covering supply, installation, furnishing, and outdoor finishing progress. The minister urged teams to accelerate efforts to ensure completion within the scheduled timeline.

He also followed up on the Iconic Tower’s main finishing works, as well as material deliveries and updates across the residential and administrative towers, alongside landscaping activities.

At the conclusion of the meeting, El Sherbini instructed all teams to address remaining observations and intensify regular follow-up to meet deadlines. He also called for close coordination with the facility operator to ensure smooth final handover.

The CBD includes 10 towers for administrative, office, commercial, and service use with a total built-up area of 806,000 sqm, and heights ranging from 80 to 175 metres. It also comprises five fully finished residential towers housing 1,700 units and four Crescent Towers with hotel, serviced apartment, and commercial uses reaching up to 64 metres.

The centrepiece of the district is the 400-metre Iconic Tower—Africa’s tallest—which will host hotel, administrative, and retail facilities, including 183 hotel rooms, 52 serviced apartments, and 40 floors of offices.
