Housing Minister Follows Up on Progress of El Fustat Hills Park Project

Eng. Sherif El Sherbini Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held a meeting yesterday to review the implementation progress of the El Fustat Hills Park project in Old Cairo, Invest-Gate reports.

The meeting brought together representatives from the executing companies, the project consultant, officials from the Ministry of Housing, and the Central Agency for Reconstruction.

At the outset, El Sherbini stressed the importance of regular follow-ups to ensure the project is completed on schedule. He reviewed the current progress of several key components, including the Adventure Zone, where he instructed an increase in planting activities and potential design adjustments if needed. He also reviewed developments in the Hills Area, where landscaping efforts have recently intensified.

The minister inspected the ongoing work in the River Zone, issuing directives to plant both riverbanks. He also followed up on the status of the Investment Zone, Heritage Gardens, Market Area, and the Qasaba Zone.

El Sherbini concluded the meeting by directing all parties to increase on-site manpower and ensure full adherence to the agreed timelines and plans. He called for immediate action against any underperforming contractors and urged prompt communication from companies facing challenges, encouraging coordination among all stakeholders to deliver the project on time.

El Fustat Hills Park spans 500 feddans in the heart of historic Cairo, on a site previously used as a waste dump. One of the largest parks in the Middle East, it features zones that reflect Egypt’s Pharaonic, Coptic, Islamic, and modern heritage. The project also includes cultural, commercial, hospitality, and open-air theatre facilities, along with an archaeological zone and a central plateau offering panoramic views of the Giza Pyramids, the Citadel of Salah al-Din, and Cairo’s minarets.
