Prime Minister Reviews Implementation Plan for New Rent Law Regulations

Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly chaired a high-level meeting today at the government headquarters in the New Capital to review proposed mechanisms for implementing the regulations of the new rental law, Invest-Gate reports.

At the start of the meeting, Madbouly stressed that the government is committed to reassuring tenants, noting that alternative housing options will be provided to suit all income levels. He directed the immediate launch of a dedicated housing program for affected tenants, ensuring that residential units are ready well before the seven-year transition period concludes.

Attending the meeting were Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development; Mr. Mahmoud Fawzi, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs; Eng. Sherif El Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities; May Abdel Hamid, CEO of the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund; and Nafisa Hashem, Housing Ministry Advisor.

El Sherbini presented the Housing Ministry’s vision on the implementation of the new rental regulations, including criteria for tenants requesting housing priority. He announced that the Social Housing Fund will launch a unified digital platform within one month to collect tenant applications over a three-month period. This will help the government assess demand and compile a comprehensive list of applicants and the housing units required.

He added that the application process will be available both online and in print, and all documentation will be reviewed to ensure eligibility. Field and digital investigations will also be conducted to prioritize applicants for residential and non-residential units.

El Sherbini also outlined available land plots for potential social housing projects and shared a preview of the proposed units expected to be offered as part of the program.
