Schneider Electric and Hassan Allam Holding Partner to Advance Smart and Sustainable Agriculture in Egypt

Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy management and automation, has signed a strategic partnership with Hassan Allam Holding, a regional engineering and construction giant, to promote sustainable agriculture in Egypt’s rural communities, Invest-Gate reports.

The initiative supports Egypt’s Vision 2030 by integrating smart energy, water, and food systems in underserved areas.

The partnership will launch its first project in El Nouras village, south of Port Said, home to around 12,000 people and reliant on the El-Salam Canal for irrigation. The project introduces a solar-powered, climate-controlled greenhouse capable of producing 20 tons of vegetables annually—addressing food insecurity and poor irrigation quality caused by climate change.

Using Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure technology, the project enhances energy efficiency, improves water use, and increases agricultural productivity. Entirely solar-powered, it aligns with Egypt’s Sustainable Energy Strategy 2035 and updated climate commitments, including the goal of generating 42% of electricity from renewables and reducing carbon emissions by 37% by 2030.

Sebastien Riez, CEO of Schneider Electric Northeast Africa and the Levant, emphasized the importance of clean energy access as a basic right and a key development driver. “Our partnership with Hassan Allam Holding shows how cross-sector collaboration turns sustainability goals into tangible impact,” he said.

Merette Elsayed, Chief Commercial Officer at Hassan Allam Holding, added: “This project reflects our commitment to empowering underserved communities through integrated solutions that address food, water, and energy challenges.”

Beyond technology, the project aims to boost local productivity, create jobs for both women and men, and enhance economic resilience in rural areas. It also highlights the role of the private sector in delivering inclusive infrastructure solutions in regions still lacking reliable electricity, clean water, and sanitation.

Announced during Schneider Electric’s “Innovation Day: Buildings of the Future” event in Cairo, the partnership sets a new standard for community-based sustainable development—combining environmental innovation with social impact to support Egypt’s national goals and the UN Sustainable Development Agenda.
