Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly chaired a meeting today at the Government Headquarters in the New Capital to review key housing sector updates, including the National Strategy for Green Urban Development, Invest-Gate reports.
Attending the meeting were Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities; Abdel Khalek Ibrahim, Assistant Minister for Technical Affairs; and Mohamed Ragai, Deputy Head of the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) for Financial and Administrative Affairs.
During the session, El-Sherbiny outlined the strategy’s methodology, which integrates national and sectoral policies to promote sustainable urbanism. The framework focuses on energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management, sustainable transport, green construction materials, and environmental quality, alongside identifying challenges, stakeholders, and funding sources.
The minister emphasized that by 2030, green and sustainable building practices should become the dominant feature of Egypt’s urban landscape—ensuring efficient resource use, environmental harmony, and economic benefits for citizens.
Abdel Khalek Ibrahim presented a roadmap for 2025–2030, highlighting stages such as incentive programs, awareness campaigns, a digital green urban platform, and a phased rollout toward full implementation. Ongoing 2025 initiatives include pilot green building incentives, government capacity-building programs, the launch of a national green urban platform, rooftop solar installations, and the issuance of Egypt’s first Green Building Code.
Cabinet Spokesperson Mohamed El-Homsany added that the meeting also reviewed NUCA’s financial performance for FY 2025–2026, including revenues, expenditures, and resource optimization plans. Discussions covered spending priorities in mega projects like New Alamein, the New Administrative Capital, Fustat Hills, and national utilities projects.
The Housing Minister further addressed NUCA’s land offerings, highlighting growing demand for plots in new cities, and reviewed the second phase of the “Your Home in Egypt” initiative for Egyptians abroad, which includes 3,000 residential, commercial, and administrative units.
El-Sherbiny also confirmed updates on the presidential “Housing for All Egyptians” initiative, noting that reservations for the extended “Housing for All Egyptians 7” phase—targeting low- and middle-income households—will close on Sunday, 14th September 2025.
With its emphasis on sustainability, financial resilience, and housing accessibility, the National Green Urban Development Strategy marks a pivotal step in shaping Egypt’s urban future.
