Modon Holding, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, announced today a strategic investment in Wellington Lifestyle Partners (WLP), joining an existing coalition of investors in the company, Invest-Gate reports.
The investment will support the long-term development of the Wellington International equestrian facilities, alongside a premium real estate project featuring residential units, a hotel, a retail village, and a championship golf course in Wellington, Palm Beach County, Florida — the world’s leading equestrian destination. This marks Modon’s first direct investment in a U.S. equestrian-focused development and strengthens its global portfolio while advancing its strategy of partnering with international leaders in luxury destination development. The step also reinforces Modon’s position as a trusted global investor in large-scale, high-value real estate and lifestyle projects.
Modon has joined the group of investors and operators in Wellington Lifestyle Partners to advance a portfolio of upscale lifestyle and sports destinations. This includes the world-class Wellington International equestrian facilities; The Wanderers Club, a private family country club offering golf, tennis, swimming, and dining; and The Wellington — an exclusive residential community of 253 homes set to open in 2028 with a championship golf course designed by David McLay-Kidd. The development plan also features “The Marketplace,” a new integrated destination comprising a boutique hotel, residential units, shops, offices, and dining venues. Together, these projects form a long-term master plan aimed at reinforcing Wellington’s global status as the capital of equestrian sport and a refined lifestyle destination.
The investment also includes a strategic licensing agreement granting Modon the rights to use the Wellington International brand and intellectual property across key strategic markets to support future lifestyle and residential developments. Under the agreement, Modon will also become the title sponsor of the Winter Equestrian Festival and the Adequan® Global Dressage Festival — the world’s largest and longest-running competitions in show jumping and dressage, attracting more than 250,000 participants and visitors annually.
H.E. Jassem Mohamed Bu Atabeh Al Zaabi, Chairman of Modon Holding, said: “This investment represents a strategic step that reflects Modon’s commitment to expanding its global presence through partnerships with world-class entities that share our vision for exceptional, culturally connected destinations built on design quality and innovation. Our partnership with Wellington Lifestyle Partners gives us access to a dynamic U.S. market and strengthens our position as a leading developer of sustainable residential, sports, and tourism destinations that meet global aspirations.”
Bill O’Regan, CEO of Modon Holding, said: “Our partnership with Wellington Lifestyle Partners aligns with Modon’s strategy to develop integrated destinations that elevate lifestyle experiences by bringing community, sport, and hospitality together. Wellington International is a global landmark in the equestrian world, and this collaboration offers valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange in operations, master planning, and design. It also strengthens our growing portfolio — which includes Hudayriyat Island, Ras El Hekma, and La Zagaleta — and reinforces our commitment to delivering world-class projects that create transformative impact.”
Mark Bellissimo, Founder of Wellington Lifestyle Partners, said: “The addition of Modon Holding to Wellington Lifestyle Partners marks a significant milestone that brings together exceptional expertise. With Modon’s deep experience in global destination development, the leadership of Doug McMahon and Nexus Luxury Collection in creating premium residential communities, and the operational expertise of equestrian athlete Murray Kessler at Wellington International, we are ideally positioned to realize our vision of delivering a world-class equestrian destination built on new standards of quality and excellence in Wellington.”
