National Telecom Regulatory Authority Launches “Auctions” Platform to Offer Customized Telecom Services for Major Corporations and Institutions

The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has launched the “Auctions” platform, the first electronic platform of its kind in the Egyptian market, offering a wide range of customized telecommunications services for major companies and institutions. The platform aims to provide innovative technological and service solutions to support large enterprises across various business sectors, enhance their profitability, and develop their customer service operations and contact centers, Invest-Gate reports.

This step comes as part of NTRA’s strategy to strengthen Egypt’s position as a regional and global hub for contact center services and to boost its competitiveness in exporting digital services, particularly in light of the significant development witnessed by the sector over the past decade.

The platform will initially offer auctions for special and premium short numbers for customer service centers, consisting of three digits such as 777 and 666, as well as distinctive six-digit numbers for small and medium enterprises and the retail sector, such as 777666 and 555777.

The first auction will be launched on January 26, 2026. Companies will be able to access the platform, register, and participate in the monthly auctions in a simple and streamlined manner, and obtain these numbers electronically without any obstacles or routine procedures.

NTRA launched the platform following extensive research that revealed a gap between the needs of companies operating in Egypt for easy-to-remember premium numbers and their customers’ desire for simple contact numbers. Such numbers help improve service quality, facilitate customer interaction with call centers, and enhance overall customer satisfaction.

Yasmina Alaa, Executive Director of Regulatory and Economic Policies at NTRA, stated:
“This platform reflects NTRA’s awareness of its vital role in supporting the private sector and major companies by providing services that meet their evolving needs. It represents a first step toward digitizing many of the Authority’s services in line with the state’s digital transformation plan, with these services being offered through auctions to ensure competition and transparency in the allocation of premium numbers.”

She added that January 26 has been set for offering the first batch of short numbers targeting key sectors in the Egyptian market, including banking, telecommunications, embassies, real estate development, automotive services, retail, healthcare, tourism and hospitality, as well as other sectors.

She further emphasized that the auction is not limited to offering short numbers for communication purposes only, but rather provides a strategic tool that opens new horizons for commercial and marketing distinction. Short numbers have become an integral part of corporate identity and a key element in building brand awareness, facilitating customer access to services, and enabling fast, simple, and effective communication.

NTRA invites all companies and entities seeking to enhance their customer communication tools to promptly register on the platform and begin the procedures to participate in the auction starting today, January 14, with the deadline for paying the bid bond set for January 21, 2026. The platform represents an important milestone in empowering the private sector with advanced digital solutions, in line with the state’s digital transformation agenda and Egypt Vision 2030 for the ICT sector.
