The Executive Director of the Slum Development Fund Khaled Siddik has met Riad Radwan, general director of Egypt’s public libraries, to develop a vision for the intellectual development of Egyptians in the slums areas and establish a public library.

“We are currently working on marginalized areas by establishing public libraries in these areas to spread cultural awareness and instill belonging in children and youth to limit extremist affiliations and create a new generation with intellectual thought,” Siddik said.

He added that generations who were raised on reading and talent development are difficult to attract them to belong to any extremist ideology.

According to a statement, the fund’s strategy adopts the idea that the individual is the center of development in any place.
