The session was attended by Dr. Laila Iskandar, former Minister of Environment; Dr. Rizk Mohamed Mostafa, Deputy Head of the New 6th of October City Authority; Dr. Osama Hadhood, Director of the Center for Development Consulting and Technological Planning Research at Cairo University; media figure Hanan Mawj, TV presenter at Al-Nahar Channel; Eng. Mahmoud Haroun, Chairman of Delmar Industrial Group; and Eng. Ahmed Labib, Chairman of Baft Manufacturing and Development Company.

The event also brought together senior officials from the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency and the General Authority for Industrial Development, alongside IDG investors and representatives of local and national media outlets.

Project Overview and Stakeholder Engagement

During the session, IDG delivered a comprehensive presentation outlining the components of the e2 New October Industrial Complex, its development phases, and implementation roadmap. Environmental and social considerations associated with the project were discussed in detail, while attendees were invited to share feedback, insights, and recommendations.

IDG emphasized its commitment to building integrated and sustainable industrial communities that balance economic efficiency with environmental protection and social impact, supporting informed, science-based decision-making in alignment with Egypt Vision 2030.

Investment Scale and Strategic Location

The e2 New October Industrial Complex represents an extension of IDG’s successful industrial developments, with total investments of EGP 4.8 billion and a total land area of 1.6 million square meters.

Strategically located with direct access to major road networks, the project is designed to attract both local and foreign investments. It is expected to generate more than 10,000 job opportunities across industrial, logistics, and commercial sectors, while accommodating over 100 industrial, logistics, and commercial facilities.

IDG Leadership: Transparency and Sustainable Growth

Commenting on the session, Mr. Shady William, CEO of Industrial Development Group (IDG), stated that the community consultation reflects IDG’s commitment to transparency and inclusive stakeholder engagement.

He noted that the session provided an open platform to review the project’s components and execution plans, with a particular focus on environmental and social aspects, underscoring IDG’s dedication to achieving a balance between industrial growth, environmental protection, and sustainable development.

Integrated Industrial Solutions and SME Support

William added that the e2 New October Industrial Complex embodies IDG’s vision of delivering fully integrated and sustainable industrial solutions. The project offers financial facilitation for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), promotes energy efficiency, reduces carbon footprint, and provides a comprehensive business environment that enables entrepreneurs and investors to grow and expand with confidence.

Environmental Vision and Sustainable Design

From an environmental perspective, Dr. Eng. Tarek El-Rouby, the project’s accredited environmental consultant, highlighted that e2 New October represents a new-generation model for sustainable industrial cities.

He explained that the master planning of the complex follows a globally recognized methodology that balances operational efficiency with environmental responsibility, ensuring a safe ecosystem and a high-quality working environment for both businesses and the surrounding community.

Functional Zoning and Smart Infrastructure

El-Rouby further noted that the complex was designed based on a functional zoning system, where industrial activities are distributed according to detailed environmental impact assessments to ensure harmony and safety.

The project also features a hierarchical road network separating heavy truck traffic from pedestrian pathways, integrated green belts, and smart infrastructure solutions for efficient resource management—establishing a resilient industrial and economic hub that adheres to the highest sustainability standards.

IDG’s Industrial Portfolio and Development Track Record

Industrial Development Group (IDG) manages an extensive industrial land portfolio totaling 23.4 million square meters, enabling the large-scale development of fully integrated industrial cities. Over the years, IDG has made significant investments in developing, operating, and maintaining these zones, offering high-quality infrastructure and integrated services to local and international companies.

Since launching e2 October in 2008 as Egypt’s first fully integrated industrial zone, IDG has expanded its footprint with developments in East Port Said within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, and e2 Alamein, the first industrial zone in New Alamein City—consistently applying sustainable development and circular economy principles across all its projects.
