Today, the national project for developing Egypt’s rural villages, “Haya Karima,” was officially awarded the Dubai International Award for Best Practices in Sustainable Urban Infrastructure Planning and Management, on the sidelines of the 2026 World Government Summit in Dubai, held from February 3 to 5, under the theme “Shaping Future Governments.” The award was received by the project’s consultant, Dar Al-Handasah, Invest-Gate reports.

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, congratulated His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for this distinguished recognition, noting that he is the primary supporter of this unprecedented development initiative. The President oversaw its planning and follows its implementation, believing in Egypt’s ability to achieve the project’s objectives and in the deserving nature of the Egyptian people for its benefits, which aim to improve the quality of services offered to them, prioritizing citizen welfare.
“Haya Karima”: A Presidential Initiative to Improve Living Standards for 60 Million Rural Egyptians
The Prime Minister emphasized that the “Haya Karima” presidential initiative is one of the most significant national projects in recent decades. Launched based on President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives, the initiative aims to improve the living standards of over 60 million people living in Egypt’s rural villages. The first phase includes over 27,300 service and development projects across multiple sectors, in 1,447 villages across 52 centers in 20 governorates, benefiting around 20 million citizens. Preparations are underway to begin the second phase, which includes an additional 1,667 villages, prioritizing the implementation of infrastructure works, further extending the reach of the initiative to new areas in Egypt, serving citizens and strengthening the foundations of comprehensive development.
