Expanding Access to Digital Wallet Services
Basata, a leading electronic payment services provider in Egypt, announced the launch of a new service allowing users to perform cash in and cash out transactions for all e-wallets through its extensive POS network. Previously, this service was limited to Vodafone Cash users only, Invest-Gate reports.
This step reflects the company’s strategy to expand its services and reach a wider user base, further strengthening its position as a key player in Egypt’s rapidly growing digital payments sector.
A Network of More Than 120,000 POS Locations
The expansion represents a significant upgrade to Basata’s platform, as customers are no longer restricted to specific service points to complete their transactions. Instead, they can now deposit or withdraw funds easily and quickly through Basata’s merchant network, which includes more than 120,000 POS locations across Egypt.
This development is supported by a large user base exceeding 40 million active e-wallet users, reinforcing Basata’s role in bridging digital financial services with everyday cash transactions.
Simplifying Daily Financial Transactions
Commenting on the launch, Karim Shehata, Managing Director of Basata Holding for Financial Payments, said:
“Technology should make people’s lives easier. At Basata, we are proud to expand our cash-in and cash-out services to include all e-wallets through our POS network. This step aims to enable faster and more flexible financial transactions, enhancing user experience and making everyday payments more accessible anywhere in Egypt.”
He added:
“This expansion reflects Basata’s ongoing commitment to delivering innovative payment solutions that serve different segments of society. We aim to reach the widest possible user base and strengthen Basata’s role as a leading player in the digital payments sector not only in Egypt but across the region.”
A Comprehensive Financial Services Ecosystem
Basata currently provides a comprehensive payments ecosystem offering more than 3,200 services, covering essential needs ranging from utility bill payments and education fees to insurance services and Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) solutions.
With this latest update, Basata’s POS network effectively transforms into mini financial hubs serving all digital wallet users, reducing reliance on traditional branches and improving financial efficiency for both individuals and merchants.
Strategic Partnerships Supporting Growth
Basata has witnessed notable growth since 2022 following its strategic partnership with Vodafone Egypt, which acquired approximately 10% of the company’s shares. The move reflects strong operational performance and promising growth prospects.
This development underscores Basata’s commitment to providing more flexible and convenient payment experiences while contributing to financial inclusion and expanding practical digital payment solutions for everyday use in Egypt.
