Egypt Signs World Cup Sponsorship Deal with FIFA

The Egyptian government, represented by the Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation, has signed a sponsorship contract with the Fédération International de Football Association (FIFA) to become an Official Regional Supporter of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, Invest-Gate reports.

The deal aims to “promote the country as a global investment destination, and to attract more tourists from around the world to visit the country,” according to a statement by the ministry.

The value of the deal is yet to be announced.

FIFA’s sponsorship deal with Egypt is its first World Cup sponsorship deal in the past five years from outside China, Qatar, and Russia.

FIFA currently has 20 sponsors of the 34 places in a 2018 World Cup commercial program.

Egypt is competing in the 2018 World Cup following a 28-year absence.
