International Real Estate Development Conference Makes Way For New Industry Standards

The first International Real Estate Development Conference was held under the patronage of Egypt’s Ministry of Housing on April 15 in Sheraton Cairo Hotel and Casino, gathering a large number of market players and running fruitful discussions on the most recent trends in the local and international real estate markets.

The conference was sponsored by Mountain View and jointly organized by the American University in Cairo (AUC) and the Federation of Egyptian Industries’s (FEI) Real Estate Development Chamber. It also featured many Egyptian and foreign industry tycoons, in the attendance of Deputy Minister of Housing for National Projects Khaled Abbas and Head of the Real Estate Development Chamber Tarek Shoukry.

The conference hosted multiple speeches and panels covering a wide range of topics including the importance of setting proper standards for the industry, the real estate financing, and the organizational roles of the Real Estate Development Chamber in the sector.

During his speech in the event, Hisham Talaat Mostafa, CEO and managing director of Talaat Moustafa Group (TMG), said that the real estate market has witnessed radical changes since the currency devaluation in 2016 which resulted in reshaping the industry’s image and future, emphasizing the financial sector’s role in supporting the real estate developers in favor of the end user.

On his part, CEO of Mountain View Amr Soliman praised the collaboration between the government and developers, as well as the joint efforts exerted to boost the real estate sector’s performance and set its standards.

Meanwhile, the government representatives pointed out that the government is keen on sitting with the developers to discuss the challenges facing the market and intensify the efforts directed toward real estate export.

The event was also attended by representatives from Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) who shared their expertise in the global real estate market.
