In a press conference at 57357 Hospital, details of the 9th annual Zayed Charity Marathon were announced, Invest-Gate reports.
This year’s event, set for December 27 in the New Administrative Capital, will support the hospital’s mission, and was attended by Egyptian and Emirati officials, including Egypt’s Youth and Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhy, ACUD Chairman Khaled Abbas, UAE Ambassador Mariam Khalifa, Marathon High Committee Chairman Mohamed Helal, and Ayman Haqi of Try Factory, the marathon’s organizing body. Paralympic champion Mohamed El Menyawy will serve as the marathon’s ambassador.
Moreover, Abbas expressed the New Administrative Capital’s honour to host the marathon again, emphasizing the city’s role in promoting human development alongside modern urban infrastructure, aligned with President El-Sisi’s vision for a greener, sustainable city that prioritizes quality of life.
Sobhy emphasized the marathon’s humanitarian purpose, saying, “The Zayed Charity Marathon is more than a race; it’s a noble message embodying human solidarity, charity, and the values of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who envisioned building healthier, happier societies.” The event symbolizes the enduring ties between Egypt and the UAE, reflecting deep historical and fraternal bonds.
UAE Ambassador Khalifa noted the significance of the marathon, stating it holds a special place in hearts as it carries the name of UAE founding father Sheikh Zayed. Marathon High Committee Chairman Helal announced an increase in this year’s prizes to EGP 20 mn, along with 400 Umrah pilgrimage trips for winners.
