Abu Dhabi’s Executive Council announced on Saturday its approval to start issuing construction permits at the Municipal Affairs and Transport Authority to centralize and expedite the process, The National reported.
The reform aims to set up a one-stop shop for the permits, which previously needed approval from several city authorities, slowing down the process to take up to 30 days.
Developers will need to hold a valid construction permit before beginning with property sales under the city’s new property law, issued in 2015.
Investors and developers have reportedly welcomed the move, according to the National, with Sameh Muhtadi, Chief Executive of Bloom Holding, saying “It looks like this new one-stop shop will be tremendously beneficial.“
