ACUD Conducts Workshop to Revise Strategic Plan for Future Phases of the NAC

The Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD) conducted a workshop to revise the strategic plan for the second, third, and fourth phases of the New Administrative Capital (NAC) and to formulate the detailed plan for the city, under the leadership of Khaled Abbas, Chairman and Managing Director of ACUD, Invest-Gate reports.

Joining the workshop were Hanan Heikal, Assistant Managing Director for Technical Affairs of ACUD; Hamed Mousa, Head of the Urban Planning Department of ACUD; Mahmoud Nasr, Director of the Smart Infrastructure Department of ACUD; a panel of international experts; as well as the project’s general consultant, the consortium of Dar Al-Handasah, Siemens, and Savills. Deliberations centered on how the detailed plan for the subsequent phases of the NAC harmonizes with the accomplishments of the initial phase.

Khaled Abbas, Chairman and Managing Director of ACUD, unveiled the company’s aspiration to craft a forward-looking vision aimed at positioning the new administrative capital as a preeminent regional and international hub by formulating a comprehensive plan that optimizes the city’s prime location, stimulating investments, and fostering increased employment opportunities in forthcoming stages, mirroring the achievements of the initial phase.

Abbas disclosed that the combined area of the second, third, and fourth phases spans 190 thousand acres. Construction of the NAC commenced towards the end of 2016, with its total expanse covering about 230,000 feddans, positioned approximately 60 km east of Cairo and 65 km west of Suez.

Emphasizing the company’s commitment to ensuring that the NAC stands out in all aspects, Abbas highlighted that the city’s planning prioritizes its distinction as the foremost green, sustainable, and intelligent city, featuring an individual share of green and open spaces amounting to 15 m², surpassing international benchmarks for quality of life.

He elucidated the company’s ambitious vision, aiming to leverage cutting-edge technologies that foster the establishment of smart cities, offering a superior standard of living through integrated technological solutions.

Abbas projected an anticipated population of 8 mn residents in the NAC by 2050, envisioning the project as a transformative endeavor that will redefine the Egyptian way of life, marking a significant global milestone in Egypt’s history, development, and economic advancement, positioning the country as a regional leader in North Africa and the Middle East.
