The Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Secretariat for the New City and Housing on behalf of Madagascar, Invest-Gate reports.
The objective is to bolster bilateral cooperation by assisting in the construction of Madagascar’s new administrative capital, “Tanamasundro,” or any urban extension, drawing from Egypt’s expertise in planning, designing, constructing, financing, and managing the New Administrative Capital (NAC).
The MoU was formally signed by Eng. Khaled Abbas, Chairman and Managing Director of ACUD, and Gerard Andriamanohisoa, Madagascar’s Secretary of State for New Cities and Housing.
Abbas highlighted that this collaboration significantly enhances the cooperative ties between the two nations, based on mutual respect and benefit. The Government of Madagascar stands to gain from Egypt’s experience in planning, designing, financing, and managing the NAC.
Furthermore, he elaborated that the partnership will entail infrastructure development, branding, marketing strategies to position the new city as an appealing investment hub, job creation initiatives, and social programs to aid local communities and future inhabitants.
This will involve the exchange of information, expertise, knowledge, and technologies, with a particular emphasis on financing mechanisms, expert exchanges, and fostering partnerships between Egyptian and Malagasy private enterprises.
Andriamanohisoa commended the projects observed in the NAC, noting the integration of cutting-edge technologies, sustainability principles, and resident comfort to enhance overall quality of life.
He lauded the project management model that operates under investment laws, highlighting the absence of state-incurred costs in establishing an all-encompassing city—a model he suggested should serve as a blueprint for emulation.
