ACUD Starts Competition to Select New Name, Logo for NAC

The Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD), the master developer of the New Administrative Capital (NAC), announced on July 17 the commencement of a public competition to select a new name and logo for the new capital, Invest-Gate reports.

The awards allotted for the contest are valued at a total of EGP 250,000, with the first, second, and third prizes set at EGP 75,000, EGP 50,000, EGP 25,000, respectively. Besides, ten promotional prizes, worth EGP 10,000 each, are offered to applicants, ACUD said in a recent official statement.

All candidates are expected to submit their entries from July 18 to August 17 through ACUD’s official website (www.acud.eg), whereas a committee will be formed to evaluate the submitted proposals and decide on the most suitable ones, the company’s spokesperson Khaled El Hosseini revealed in the press release.

“The terms for determining NAC’s name and logo must bear in mind many factors, including the manifestation of the Egyptian individuality, while being unique, authentic, and simple (not more than two words, with easy pronunciation),” El Hosseini explained.

The spokesperson elaborated that the new logo and title must be clear and unambiguous. They shall also avoid the representation of any political or religious party, while taking into account many other determinants that are particularized on ACUD’s website.

Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi laid the first stone of NAC in July 2018, which is situated in east Cairo, roughly 60 kilometers away from Suez and Ain Sokhna. It is developed on an area of 170,000 acres and is set to include 21 residential districts and a road network of 650 kilometers in length, aiming to accommodate up to 6.5 mn people.
