Alexandria’s Ambitious Water and Sanitation Projects Under Ministry of Housing Review

The Minister of Housing and the Governor of Alexandria recently assessed the progress of drinking water and sanitation projects in Alexandria governorate, overseen by the Executive Authority for Water and Sanitation, Invest-Gate reports.

These projects encompass 19 initiatives serving urban and rural areas, with a total investment of EGP 5.2 bn in Alexandria Governorate.

The breakdown includes five urban sanitation projects with a capacity of 130,000 m3/day, costing EGP 3.312 bn, and 13 rural sanitation projects with a capacity of 65,000 m3/day, costing EGP 1.805 bn. Additionally, a drinking water project is underway for EGP 55 mn.

Some notable projects include expansions of the Amriya treatment plant, sewage system enhancements in various areas, treatment stations, and drinking water lifters.

Ahmed Abdel Qader, Head of the Executive Authority for Drinking Water and Wastewater, highlighted the previous achievements in Alexandria Governorate, such as the Eastern Treatment Plant, the Amriya Lifting and Treatment Plant, sludge treatment from the Eastern Purification Treatment Plant, and improvements to water intake stations and sanitation networks in multiple villages and areas throughout the governorate.

These initiatives demonstrate a significant commitment to enhancing water and sanitation infrastructure in the region.
