Arab Contractors, an Egyptian construction and contracting company, has revealed finalizing the construction work at one of the directions of El Nahda Tunnel project in Giza with a length of 550 meters, Invest-Gate reports.

Commenting on the new development, Arab Contractors Chairman Mohsen Salah explains that El Nahda Tunnel will cover vehicles coming from Giza Square and heading to Dokki, adding that it is part of a mega project that comprises the implementation of three tunnels with a total length of 1,700 meters and a width of seven meters, according to a company’s statement.

The project comprises a tunnel of 850 meters long from Al-Galaa Square to Giza Square, a 550-meter tunnel from Giza Square to Dokki, and a 300 meters tunnel from Al-Galaa Square to Cairo University, Salah elucidates in the statement.

In its statement, the chairman points out that the project aims to deal with the traffic congestion issue in El-Nahda Square and the abandonment of intersections in the area, adding that the project has faced innumerable obstacles during its implementation as it is located in a dense area, and also due to the presence of networks of water and sanitation facilities, as well as underground telephone cables.

Salah underlines that the cooperation between Arab Contractors and local agencies including the Central Agency for Reconstruction, the Greater Cairo Reconstruction Authority, and Giza’s Central Traffic Department impelled the implementation of the works without cutting off the facilities from the buildings in the area and facilitating the operation of vehicles in the district.

It is expected that the final phase of the tunnel for the opposite direction will be operated soon for vehicles driving from Al-Galaa Square and heading to Giza Square. Also, the company will finalize the entire project by the end of 2018, Salah adds.
