Aswan has received the UNESCO Learning City Award for being one of the world’s top ten learning cities, Invest-Gate reports.
The award reflects that Aswan is among the cities that have shown progress in and commitment to promoting education and lifelong learning at the local level, according to the Learning Cities 2019 website.
It is biennially “presented to cities in each of the five UNESCO regions that have demonstrated significant progress in learning city development by implementing the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities guiding documents,” read the webpage.
It is noteworthy to highlight that the World Bank (WB) has picked Aswan-based Benban solar power park for an annual award as the world’s top project, according to a previous ministerial statement on March 21.
The project reflects the comprehensive strategic partnership between the government and the bank, which includes supporting the country’s reform program and the government’s plans for promoting the private sector role in achieving inclusive sustainable development, Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr underscored back then.
