Architecture students at the American University in Cairo are set to showcase Tatweer Misr Urban Design Studio at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27), Invest-Gate reports.
The project is chosen by the AUC to be its sustainable course project for 2022.
The course was developed and designed under cooperation between Tatweer Misr and AUC architecture students for the creation of urban designs tackling matters with global concerns, including climate change.
Tatweer Misr Urban Design Studio is located on 30 acres at Bloomfields in Mostakbal City, New Cairo.
Developed as an undergraduate course that started in February 2022, the facility enables students to have a hands-on professional experience over their course of study.
“Through ‘Tatweer Misr Urban Design Studio’ we are achieving a mutual goal of connecting students to the labor market and allowing them an opportunity to apply what they have studied in a real-life project, and to also benefit from the innovative ideas of young people in developing new concepts for the real estate industry,” Ahmed Shalaby, President and CEO of Tatweer Misr, says.
“Engaging with the real world and creating local-global partnerships is part of our strategic vision towards graduating students at the cutting edge of architecture and urban design,” Basil Kamel, Chair of the Architecture Department at the AUC, comments.
It is worth noting that the AUC is participating in COP27 with a team of 85 scholars, and 35 students and staff members to exhibit its latest innovations in the field of sustainability.
