Egypt’s Palm Hills Developments and education provider Taaleem Management Services have received a presidential decree licensing Badya University, clearing the way for the new private institution’s opening in September 2024, Invest-Gate reports.
The companies announced on August 22 that the university has completed its regulatory approval process, with its first phase comprising faculties in dentistry, physiotherapy, business and economics, and computer science advancing as planned.
Badya University will be located within Palm Hills’ flagship Badya new city development in west of Cairo. Occupying 167,000 sqm, it will eventually comprise eight faculties serving around 12,500 students.
“This brings us closer to developing Badya city as a fully integrated sustainable hub for innovation,” said Hazem Badran, Palm Hills Co-CEO.
Taaleem MD Mohamed El Rashidi said the license marked “a momentous stride” for the project. “Through our collaboration with Palm Hills, construction of the university’s first phase is proceeding on schedule,” he added.
El Rashidi noted Badya University’s addition, along with the upcoming Memphis University in East Cairo, advances Taaleem’s goal of becoming a leading higher education provider in Egypt.
