The Bahrain Marina Development Company announced on Wednesday it had awarded the marine works contract for the Bahrain Marina project to Al Hassanain Contracting Company, according to Bahrain News Agency.

The development along the Manama coastline, scheduled for completion in 2020, will comprise residential, entertainment, leisure and marina facilities. The marine works contract marks the first stage of the project, involving dredging, land reclamation, earthworks, shore protection quay walls, and culvert crossings.

The new development is expected to contribute to the tourism as well as to the retail sector of Bahrain’s economy, which is currently undergoing diversification efforts.
