The Cabinet has approved amendments to the prerequisite conditions to reserve social housing units in an effort to facilitate the process for applicants, according to a statement by Mostafa Madbouly, the Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities.
The amendments include changing the rule that whereby applicants should be residents of the governorate where the units are being offered in order to qualify, to instead allow applicants from surrounding cities or governorates to apply.
The amendments also allow the approval of transferring applicants to units on offer in other governorates if the supply of available units in their own locality had all been reserved.
