Hawai Tourism and Investment Company, one of the leading companies in the field of real estate and tourism development, has announced the launch of the Cairo Eye project, Invest-Gate reports.
Scheduled to open in 2022, Cairo Eye project comes in line with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi development plan in regards to tourism and investment projects, according to a company press release on January 10.
Cairo Eye is the first touristic wheel in Cairo and the largest of its kind in Africa at a height of 120m. It’s a global and a landmark for modern Cairo, in line with the strategic development plan and Egypt’s 2030 vision.
“The new project is a boom in the entertainment and tourism sector and the latest global tourism project in Egypt”, Ahmed Metwally, Chairman of Hawai, is quoted as saying.
“It is a civilized symbol that allows a unique panoramic view of Cairo, which attracts millions of visitors annually to support the tourism sector in Egypt and attract more foreign currency,” Chairman of Hawai, adds.
Cairo Eye is the largest in Africa and the fifth-largest wheel after London, Dubai, Las Vegas, and Singapore. It will be located on the Nile River in a premium location in Zamalek, according to the statement. Metwally assures that the project design takes all environmental considerations and preserving Zamalek district with total green area of more than 7000 sqm instead of the current of 6,100 sqm.
Cairo Eye allows visitors to see the city for a distance of 50 km and the landmarks surrounding it. It contains 48 cabins with a capacity of six to eight visitors per cabin, 2,500000 visitors annually. Metwally further explains that the project developed an accurate traffic study to ensure traffic flow in this designated area by providing various transportations to reach the project site.
