City Edge Developments successfully organised City Edge Olympix 2025, one of the year’s major sporting events, held in New Alamein from 1 to 3 May, Invest-Gate reports.
The event, hosted in collaboration with Cairo Runners and under the patronage of Egypt’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, and the New Urban Communities Authority, drew wide participation across seven sports disciplines.
The Olympix aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle and reinforce New Alamein’s position as a year-round sports and tourism destination. Activities included football, basketball, volleyball, padel, CrossFit, rowing, cycling, and a community race held on 2 May, with distances of 10 km, 5 km, and a 2 km family run.
With a prize pool of EGP 2 mn, the event attracted significant participation: 21 football teams, 12 each in basketball and volleyball, 16 in padel, 10 in CrossFit, 40 rowers, 22 cyclists, and over 1,000 runners.
“This event aligns with the Ministry of Housing’s strategic vision,” said Tamer Nasser, CEO of City Edge Developments. “Our goal is to establish New Alamein as a vibrant, integrated city that operates all year round—not just seasonally.”
He praised the collective efforts of event partners and the Alamein City Authority in preparing world-class infrastructure, particularly its globally admired beachfront. “This is just the beginning,” he added. “We have a clear roadmap to ensure a sustainable city offering housing, education, healthcare, and entertainment.”
Nasser emphasized that sport is not merely leisure—it’s a driver of development and a gateway to new investment opportunities.
