Prime Minister and Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Development Mostafa Madbouly has issued a decree to authorize the communications ministry to establish a 75-acre technological area in Maadi, south Cairo, dedicated to activities related to the telecommunications industry, Invest-Gate reports.
The decision stipulates the commitment of the ministry to implement the plan for the establishment and operation of the technological area within the period specified in the agreed timetable of its two stages, which is due to be completed by the end of 2025, according to a statement on the cabinet’s official Facebook page on February 5.
Based on the decision, the new technological zone will be divided into two sections devoted to activities of governmental and non-governmental organizations bound to entrepreneurship and innovation, small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) engaged in the fields of telecommunications and technology, amongst others.
According to the statement, Madbouly may, upon the approval of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), extend the timetable for the establishment and operation of the area in light of the justifications provided by the Ministry of Communications.
