Concrete Structures of New Alamein Int’l University 80% Done: Minister

Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar said four engineering faculties are set to start running in the next academic year at New Alamein International University for Sciences and Technology in the North Coast, with concrete structures 80% done, Invest-Gate reports.

Finishing works have been initiated at the 62-acre campus, which encompasses 12 colleges, 34 buildings (faculties, dorms, creative center, library, cafeterias, and others) and Al Alamein National University, El Gazzar indicated during his five-hour tour to New Alamein on June 23.

Covering a total area of 128 acres, and divided into three sectors, Al Alamein National University, which will be run by Alexandria University, got 95% of concrete structures of two sectors completed in its first phase. The university’s first phase is scheduled to see three faculties operating as of next academic year, out of 13 faculties, four residential buildings, an administrative building, and a library.

Accompanied by ministerial officials and representatives of the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA), the minister also inspected the new city’s 260-acre heritage area, which is roughly 60% implemented and embraces nearly 70 services and facilities, including the main lake, a central park, a mosque, a church, a Roman theater, an opera house, a cinema complex, a kids area, a presidential palace, a number of commercial buildings and hotels, to name a few.

A total of 15 towers are underway, with up to 41 floors and comprising nearly 4,500 units, El Gazzar highlighted, confirming that the towers’ finishing works are being carried out in parallel with construction. He explained that some were already built to the 26th floor, with work in full swing on-site in the run-up for setting up foundations of ten additional high-rises.

During the visit, the minister directed the disbursement of financial dues to contractors and the activation of the cabinet’s decision on evaluating the performance of contracting companies in the implementation of various projects assigned to them by the housing ministry.

El Gazzar also toured the recreational area, which is nestled in the heart of New Alamein’s Coastal Towers District and directly overlooks the sea. It includes a 3,000-vehicle parking space, a motel, and a number of retail outlets. In addition, he visited the downtown area and noted that 15 buildings – out of 40 – were fully implemented. They include 1,320 luxury-finished units, ranging from 90 to 300 square meters, with different modules.

NUCA is currently preparing to offer a number of residential units in the downtown area and they will soon be put for sale to the public, the minister concluded.
