Criteria Design Group, led by Chairman Hesham Helal, an architectural engineering consultant and advocate for environmentally friendly buildings, has made second place in the “Green Housing” design competition, Invest-Gate reports.
The Social Housing Fund and Mortgage Finance Support launched the competition in collaboration with the National Center for Housing and Building Research under the auspices of the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
Helal unveiled the company’s success in presenting a modern green housing design concept distinguished by a central green heart accessible to all residents in every unit, free from any interference of streets or cars.
Moreover, this clear separation between pedestrian movement, parks, green areas, and vehicular traffic enhances the sense of security and enjoyment of open spaces.
Also, Helal pointed out that all of this was achieved while maintaining the highest density without sacrificing architectural proportions, resulting in a significant increase in housing units.
Furthermore, the design principles were focused on orientation and integration with nature, utilizing natural resources to achieve natural ventilation and daylighting.
Mai Abdel Hamid, CEO of the Mortgage Finance Fund (MFF), highlighted the significant interest in the “Green Housing” design competition since its announcement. 26 participants registered via the competition’s website, with 22 obtaining the competition’s terms from the National Center for Housing and Building Research.
Notably, the participants included 12 engineering consulting offices, five governmental and private universities, and five working groups comprising young engineers and architects. 14 projects were submitted comprehensively within the designated deadline.
