DEGAROUTE Wins New Road Project in Egypt

DEGAROUTE, one of the world’s leading companies in specialty chemicals, was awarded a new project in Egypt to develop 500 kilometers of Cairo-Sharm El Sheikh highway in both directions, Invest-Gate reports.

The first trial for this road started in October 2018, with Egypt-based Balsam, according to a press release on April 8.

“We started from scratch with educating Balsam on how to formulate cold plastic roadmaking using DEGAROUTE,” said Business Manager for Coating and Adhesive Resins in Evonik Egypt Ahmed Nousser.

“At that stage, we were developing the interest of this new technology in the Egyptian market, so we organized joint technical Lab training in Germany for Balsam in addition to providing technical support locally and supervising the production trial and the commercial production,” Nousser added.

Each of the two lanes of the highway has “two interrupted lines extruded via DEGAROUTE 465 and two long edge lines sprayed with DEGAROUTE 655, with a thickness of 2.5 millimeters on the extruded line and 600 microns on the spray line,” according to the statement.
