Deputy Housing Minister Checks Progress in Water Projects

Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister of Housing for Infrastructure Affairs, holds a meeting to follow up on the activities of the project to enhance the sustainability of drinking water and sanitation services in Upper Egypt, in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Local Development, the Project Management Unit (PMU) of the housing ministry, and the project advisory office, Invest-Gate reports.

Ismail states that the project’s activities are being implemented in joint cooperation between the Dutch Embassy, the International Cooperation Agency of the Federation of Dutch Municipalities (VNG International), and other partners, with the aim of enhancing the sustainability of water and sanitation investments and services.

He adds that there are many projects that are working at the same time to increase the coverage of drinking water and sanitation services in the Delta region, as well as in Upper and Central Egypt, in a way that reflects the enormous potential of the Egyptian state.

Ismail stresses that achieving sustainability for water and wastewater services is based on planning, coordinating, and implementing investments in a cost-effective manner, involving the private sector, benefiting from energy-saving technology, giving preference to renewable energy sources, and effective management of water resources.
