Deputy Minister of Housing Dr. Sayed Ismail inspected the Chinese “Xin Xing” ductile iron pipe factory located in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, a project with USD 150 mn in investments, Invest-Gate reports.
Dr. Ismail was joined by senior officials from the Ministry of Housing, the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater, the National Organization for Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage, the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, and representatives from Arab Contractors and Hydroconsult, the advisor for the New Delta pipeline project.
The visit included a tour of the factory’s full production cycle—from raw material melting and centrifugal casting to pipe coating and quality testing. Officials from Xin Xing briefed the delegation on their global experience and expressed their interest in partnering with local companies and the ministry.
“This factory plays a strategic role in localizing ductile pipe manufacturing, which supports national infrastructure projects and reduces import costs by offering a competitively priced, locally produced product,” said Dr. Ismail. He noted the factory’s export potential to African and Gulf markets.
The facility spans 270,500 sqm under the TEDA-Egypt industrial developer, with an annual production capacity of 250,000 tonnes for pipe diameters up to 2600 mm. It provides 700 direct and 220 indirect jobs.
Dr. Ismail praised the launch of the factory’s first phase and reaffirmed the ministry’s support for boosting local production and exports. He emphasized Egypt’s strategy to encourage serious investments across its 27 governorates and 44 new cities.
