Deputy Housing Minister Abdul Khaliq Ibrahim has convened an extensive meeting with representatives from South Korea’s Ministry of Land and Infrastructure and several specialized consultancies, Invest-Gate reports.
The meeting aimed to track progress on the development project of Badr City using modern technology. Officials from various ministries and bodies, including the New Urban Communities Authority, Badr City Authority, and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme “Habitat,” attended the gathering.
Furthermore, Ibrahim highlighted Badr City’s recent inclusion in the “K-City Network” during the World Smart Cities Forum in South Korea. He emphasized the joint project’s funding for Badr City’s modernization, a collaboration between the Ministry of Housing and the UN-Habitat program.
Moreover, this effort aligns with Egypt’s national urban policy, integrating with the Ministry’s collaboration with the Ministry of Communications on drafting the national strategy for smart cities.
Notably, South Korean representatives acknowledged Egypt’s rich urban history and expressed admiration for its urban renaissance, which offers significant opportunities for bilateral exchange of expertise and cooperation in smart cities and other urban development areas.
