The Dubai Opera will be opening for the first time with a performance by Spanish tenor Placido Domingo in Downtown Dubai, UAE, reported Trade Arabia.
Considered the creative heart of the city, Dubai Opera is expected to produce the finest and most authentic arts experiences from Dubai and the world.
The dhow-shaped building is designed in a contemporary style and is dedicated as a tribute to Dubai’s maritime history, according to Gulf Business.
Janus Rostock is the architect responsible for the design that transforms into three modes; from a theater to a concert hall and then to a ‘flat floor’.
The theater is set to accommodate drama productions, musicals, ballets, lectures, and conferences, with a capacity for 2,000 people.
The Dubai Opera includes several spaces and venues, a rooftop restaurant, and sky garden that overlook views of the Dubai Fountain and Burj Khalifa which is the world’s tallest building.
