Dubai to Build 6 New Megaprojects

The Dubai Municipality’s plan to develop 6 new projects was approved by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, reported ME Construction News.

The projects will include a Vertical Industrial City, a new conference center, Dubai Steps, and the Hardware and Bicycle Market, according to Gulf News.

The Vertical Industrial City is a 280 hectare site and will host residential, commercial, and industrial components. It will also include a Gulf Safari and a 100-hectare golf complex with a training academy, reported Arabian Business.  

Similarly, the new conference center will have a capacity of 10,000 people and will include hotels, offices and the new Mohammed Bin Rashid Library.

Dubai Steps “is a cultural and sport project which includes 500 stairs symbolizing the challenges and progress of Dubai,” according to the state news agency WAM.

The Hardware and Bicycle Market in Warsan area will occupy 11 hectares, hosting 100 shops, 53 bicycle showrooms, section for sales of construction material, car parking and 4 solar power generation panels. The expected completion date is September 2016.

The newly announced projects are all part of Dubai’s 2021 plan towards green and sustainable city.
