Dubai’s Rental Disputes Center (RDC) recorded 19,000 rental disputes in 2016, representing 5% of the total contracts, according to a press release by the Dubai Land Department (DLD) on Monday.

In its third year of operations, the RDC resolved 7,809 cases while registering 11,765 cases and applications. In 2015 the center had registered 23,000 disputes and recorded 8,836 cases.

The RDC had been set up as a simplified way of solving rental disputes three years ago and has, ever since, evolved to form institutions like a conciliation department.
