During the 12th World Urban Forum, Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Sherif El Sherbini, met with Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of Azerbaijan, Invest-Gate reports.
The discussions focused on sharing Egypt’s urban development expertise under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s leadership and exploring collaborative urban planning and infrastructure opportunities.
Moreover, El Sherbini welcomed the Azerbaijani delegation, expressing Egypt’s willingness to share its extensive experience in urban development, supported by the strong bilateral relations between the two countries. “Egypt is ready to share its wide-ranging urban development expertise with Azerbaijan, particularly in light of the deep ties between our nations,” he noted.
Highlighting Egypt’s achievements, El Sherbini outlined the creation of numerous fourth-generation smart cities, expansive water and sewage projects, and the provision of hundreds of thousands of housing units for various demographics.
Furthermore, El Sherbini emphasized the proficiency of Egyptian construction firms, which have successfully executed projects across Africa and the Middle East and are well-equipped for global initiatives.
In response, Guliyev expressed admiration for Egypt’s urban advancements, noting the similar developmental philosophies shared by Egypt and Azerbaijan. He acknowledged the substantial growth in Egypt’s urban landscape and voiced Azerbaijan’s interest in deepening cooperation with Egypt to benefit from its rich expertise.
Guliyev congratulated Egypt on successfully hosting the 12th World Urban Forum, praising its organization and impact on the global urban planning dialogue.
