Sherif El Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, announced the completion of several water and sanitation projects in 2024, implemented by the National Authority for Potable Water and Sanitation, Invest-Gate reports. These initiatives are part of the government’s efforts to enhance infrastructure, improve water and wastewater services, and elevate living standards across Egypt.
El Sherbiny stated that eight potable water projects with a total capacity of 141,000 m³/day and 15 sanitation projects were completed in various governorates. The efforts also extended to initiatives under the presidential “Decent Life” program, targeting rural development.
Furthermore, among the key projects were the provision of water to the Shata 1 National Housing Project in Damietta, the upgrading of the water network in Al-Arish, and the construction of a 10,000 m³ reservoir in North Sinai.
Moreover, other significant achievements included the expansion of water plants in Dakahlia and Gharbia, as well as the establishment of a seawater desalination plant in East Matrouh with a capacity of 65,000 m³/day and a new water plant in Qena.
Also, sanitation projects encompassed several regions, such as Giza, Damietta, and Sharkia, with the installation of advanced sewer systems in Abu Hammad, Geziret Nakla in Beheira, and Sheikh Mubarak in Kafr El Sheikh. Additional projects included the construction of sewer networks in Rashid, Ismailia, and other villages, showcasing the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure nationwide.
