Egypt Cracks Down on Building Violations in New Cities

Minister of Housing, Utilities & Urban Communities Assem El-Gazzar has stated that city authorities in Badr, 6th of October, New Taiba, New Salhiya and New Damietta launched massive campaigns to remove illegal construction and occupancies, Invest-Gate reports.

This aims to control urban planning and preserve the cultural image of new cities, working with the police. El-Gazzar stressed the need to monitor for violations daily via spatial monitoring systems.

In Badr City, 14 commercial stores and the Al-Redoud buildings were demolished. 6th of October removed occupancies in eastern and northern sectors around Al-Hosari to prevent disorder.

Authority head Adel El-Najjar said work was also immediately halted and removed in the northern sector. Morning and evening patrols around Hosary Square lifted several occupancies and exploitation of corridors.

New Thebes head Alaa Abdullah Mostafa imposed bans on heavy parking in residential blocks and on vital streets, fining violating vehicles. Road work was completed in two neighborhoods.

Head of New Salhiya City Authority Khaled Shaheen removed encroachments from the First to Fourth neighborhoods and the second industrial zone, with surprise inspections to continue.

New Damietta city authority head Mohamed Khalaf Allah seized four tuk-tuks, two trucks and kiosks, taking legal action. Any new violations are diligently monitored and dealt with to uphold the minister’s directives.

The campaigns aim to fully enforce the law with no tolerance for further infringements disrupting urban masterplans.
