Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr has signed a USD 200 mn investment agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Invest-Gate reports.
The deal aims to bolster the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company’s (EGAS) energy efficiency projects, according to a ministry statement.
The project, to be implemented by (EGAS) and the Egyptian Natural Gas Company (Gasco Company), aims to invest in Egyptian gas lines and infrastructure for gas transmission.
The EBRD’s investments in Egypt reached EUR 2.7 bn in 52 projects in the sectors of infrastructure, energy, sewage, water, and transport, Nasr says, adding that the bank has provided technical assistance to over 500 small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
