Egypt Gears Up to Secure Arab Housing and Construction Ministers Council Award for Best Residential Project

Nafisa Mahmoud Hashem, Advisor to the Minister of Housing, has unveiled the intricacies behind the preparation of Egypt’s submission for the Arab Housing and Construction Ministers Council Award, recognizing the best executed housing project of 2024, Invest-Gate reports.

The award was clinched by the “Rawdat Al-Sayeda” project, previously known as “Tel Al-Aqareb” prior to its transformation.

Hashem detailed that a meticulous six-month effort was invested in compiling the submission, with the ministry meticulously selecting a project that met all criteria for the award. This strategic decision bore fruit, culminating in Egypt’s victory over numerous competing projects.

Egypt, under the auspices of the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, had previously secured accolades such as the Arab Housing and Construction Ministers Council Award for the Desert Back Villages Projects in Assiut Governorate, the Future Housing Project, and most recently, the Architectural Award for the Family House Project.

Abdel Khaleq Ibrahim, Assistant Minister of Housing for Technical Affairs, emphasized that the Rawdat Al-Sayeda initiative marked a groundbreaking development for the entire region, pioneering a strategy that involved relocating residents to temporary accommodations during the construction phase, with the state covering rental expenses.

Upon project completion, residents were resettled in a new area equipped with comprehensive services. The project’s design meticulously integrated the spatial environment, reflecting elements of the Sayeda Zeinab and Fustat areas by embracing an Islamic architectural style that resonated with the historical significance and distinctiveness of the locale.

Furthermore, Ibrahim underscored Egypt’s global leadership in transforming hazardous areas, highlighting the enhancement of the quality of life for approximately 2 million citizens residing in 357 unsafe zones nationwide. This monumental effort entailed constructing roughly 300,000 housing units to provide new homes for the inhabitants of these areas, exemplifying a pioneering model on an international scale.
