Egypt Hosts 1st Skyscraper Conference in March

Egypt will host the first African conference on skyscrapers, entitled “Egypt’s Skyscraper Conference,” from March 14 to 15 at Egypt International Exhibition Center (EIEC), east Cairo, aiming to showcase latest technologies and architecture of mega projects as the future of vertical urbanism in the country, Invest-Gate reports.

The event targets keeping up with major development projects in Egypt, especially the New Administrative Capital (NAC) – which is considered among the world’s top urban mega-projects nowadays, Ahmed Megahd, chairman of Arabian German Exhibitions and Publishing, the organizer of the conference, told Invest-Gate on February 7, adding that New Alamein also represents another impressive national project in the North Coast.

Megahd noted that the conference will tackle several topics, including the tallest skyscraper in Africa, which will be built at NAC’s business district that encompasses 20 towers. The 345-meter-tall tower will replace South Africa’s 223-meter-tall Carlton Center, which is currently Africa’s tallest man-made structure.

He underlined that it will also shed light on the reasons behind the world’s interest in this business model, as well as, the most important features that towers relish such as the reduction of infrastructure costs.

During the conference, top international consultants will highlight the latest technologies used in design and construction of skyscrapers.

Egypt’s Skyscrapers Conference will attract over 45 speakers and more than 450 delegates involved in designing, construction, and maintenance of high-rise buildings from around the globe, he revealed.

He elaborated that high-rise buildings represent the core pillar of these developments and clarify the government’s orientation toward vertical urbanism. Thus, this event is taking place at the perfect time to shed light on the requirements, standards, technologies, and mechanisms for tall buildings.
