Egypt Housing Minister Reviews Progress at Alexandria’s Sawary Project

Egypt’s Housing Minister Assem El-Gazzar inspected work underway at the Sawary urban complex in West Carrefour, Alexandria spanning 419 acres, Invest-Gate reports.

El-Gazzar toured model housing units and villas, stressing the need to adhere to deadlines and coordinate site works. The Sawary project aims to provide varied housing and services while boosting Alexandria’s development.

The New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) is building 64 Sawary Towers comprising 3,068 homes on 60 acres, with the towers 71% complete, as part of the 120-acre first phase of the project which also includes 310 villas being built on 57 acres that are over 82% finished.

Utilities and roads have been prepared to allow residence once the unit construction is complete, while the towers will contain apartments ranging from 130 to 280 sqm located in the Al-Abraaj luxury compound.

A cooperation protocol was signed between the NUCA, the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, and investors to develop 250 acres through public-private partnerships. Investors were allocated plots for urban, administrative, commercial, entertainment, and sports projects.

The Sawary supervisor said 46 plot designs are under review while completion procedures progress. The total investment value is estimated at EGP 30 bn for the partnership projects.

The mixed-use Sawary development will create new living spaces meeting demand and supporting Alexandria’s economy. The NUCA highlighted using modern construction techniques to optimize delivery schedules.
