Egypt Launches Its First Electric Vehicle Charging Station

Egypt launched its first electric vehicle (EV) charging unit by the Revolta Egypt Company in the presence of the Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil, Ahram Online reports.

The new unit is installed at a state-owned Wataniya gas station on the Cairo-Suez highway after two-year studies were conducted on the adequacy of the Egyptian roads to handle electric cars.

Revolta, the unit owner and a developer of electric charging infrastructure and other EV-related projects, will be establishing 65 similar charging units across seven Egyptian governorates during the first phase of the project, Revolta Egypt’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mohammed Badawi announced.

The company has also designed a mobile application to locate the nearest charging station of electric cars.

Kabil said the ministry aims to establish EV infrastructure and adopt EV technology in Egypt as it is environmentally friendly and cost-effective.
