Egypt’s cabinet is approving the establishment of a new power plant in the New Administrative Capital spanning an area of 744,000 square metres, Invest-Gate reports.
The new power plant will generate electricity at a capacity of 4,800 megawatts, according to news reports.
The New Administrative Capital is located 45 kilometers (28 miles) east of Cairo, just outside the Second Greater Cairo Ring Road in a currently largely undeveloped area halfway on the road to the seaport city of Suez.
On a total area of 700 square kilometres (270 sq miles), it would have a population of five million people, although it is estimated that this figure could rise to seven million.
