Egypt’s tourism revenues increased 123.5% year-on-year to USD 7.6 bn in 2017, Reuters quotes a government official as saying.
The number of tourists who visited Egypt during the same time jumped 54% to 8.3 mn, according to the official who preferred to remain anonymous.
The tourism sector is one of the country’s main sources of foreign currency. The number is still well below the 14.7 mn who visited Egypt in 2010 before the uprising.
