Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Assem El-Gazzar has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities in Egypt and the Ministry of National Housing and Social Amenities in Zimbabwe, Invest-Gate reports.

The MoU aims to facilitate cooperation in the provision of low- and medium-cost housing in Zimbabwe, utilizing modern construction technology and drawing upon Egypt’s experience in housing provision.

The agreement was signed by Zimbabwe’s Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities Daniel Garwe and Amin Ghoneim, Vice President of the New Urban Communities Authority for the Real Estate and Commercial Affairs Sector.

El-Gazzar highlighted that the MoU seeks to foster the exchange of information, expertise, and technical capabilities between the two ministries. The areas of collaboration outlined in the MoU, include housing policies, housing plans and programs, institutional arrangements for housing provision, regulatory frameworks, local building materials, local building technologies, effective building systems, and innovative technology at affordable prices.

To ensure effective implementation, a joint executive committee will be established by both sides. This committee will identify priority areas of cooperation and coordinate efforts between the two ministries.
