Madkour Group, specializing in energy, contracting, and industrial solutions, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Nigerian government of Imo State to develop the entire electricity network in the state, Invest-Gate reports.

This move reflects the company’s commitment to expanding its business in the African market and supporting sustainable development on the continent. It is also in line with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, emphasizing the importance of Egyptian companies fostering cooperation with African countries.

The MoU was signed by Senator Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State, Nigeria, and Dr. Mostafa Madkour, Chairman and CEO of Madkour Group. Its main objective is to establish cooperation in the management, implementation, and operation of the electricity production, transmission, and distribution system in the state.

As part of this agreement, Madkour Group will play a role in modernizing and expanding the electricity network in Imo State to meet the demands of population growth and economic expansion. The goal is to address the issue of persistent power outages in the state.

Senator Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State, emphasized the necessity of partnerships, stating, “The work of electricity generation, distribution, and transmission is costly, and the state cannot tackle it alone.” He expressed confidence that through the collaboration with Madkour Group, Imo State will be able to generate, transmit, and distribute its own energy by January 2025.

Dr. Mostafa Madkour, Chairman and CEO of Madkour Group, expressed gratitude to the governor for his trust in the capabilities of the company. He highlighted the significance of the strategic cooperation with Imo State, which will leverage their extensive experience in the electricity sector to enhance infrastructure and improve energy supply efficiency in the state.
