Egyptian Red Crescent Receives EGP 27M for Gaza Meals

Egyptian Red Crescent and Majid Al Futtaim, which holds Carrefour’s exclusive rights in Egypt, have united forces to provide crucial humanitarian aid to Gaza during Ramadan and Eid, Invest-Gate reports.

With a contribution of EGP27 mn, Majid Al Futtaim is funding the provision of 7,000 daily meals, encompassing Iftar and Sohour, for Palestinians within Gaza. This initiative operates through the humanitarian kitchen established by the Egyptian Red Crescent in Sheikh Zuweid City, aiming to offer tangible relief to Palestinian families in Gaza.

Furthermore, this collaboration extends from Majid Al Futtaim’s previous contribution of EGP30 mn to the Egyptian Red Crescent. This contribution is part of the company’s broader regional donations exceeding EGP60 mn, aimed at supporting the people of Gaza, complemented by further contributions from Carrefour customers.

The Egyptian Red Crescent expressed gratitude: “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Majid Al Futtaim for their unwavering support and steadfast commitment to our cause.”

For his part, Hani Weiss, CEO at Majid Al Futtaim – Retail, expressed, “At Majid Al Futtaim, we are honoured to continue building on our long-term partnership with the Egyptian Red Crescent to support thousands of individuals and families in Gaza, especially during Ramadan.”

Moreover, the partnership between the Egyptian Red Crescent and Majid Al Futtaim through Carrefour has significantly impacted over 1 million individuals in the past 15 years, with contributions totalling EGP40 mn, including donations designated explicitly for Gaza.

Notably, through their collaboration, both entities aim to provide relief, support, and a sense of the holy month’s spirit to Palestinians facing adversity in Gaza.
